Accessing Library Resources from Off-Campus Locations

05/12/2008

The end of the Spring semester will bring about changes when accessing MSU Library electronic resources from off-campus locations. As of May 29, 2008, the old proxy server will no longer be available. Off campus access to library electronic resources is now made easier through the EZ Proxy which has been in place and working well for the past two years. For more information on using this service see the EZ proxy website available from Distance Learning Services through the MSU Libraries, Off-Campus Access.

Should you be accessing resources through Google Scholar and want to ensure your access to MSU resources is seamless, please do the following:

• Go to Google Scholar - http://scholar.google.com/.

• Click on “Scholar Preferences” to the right of the search box.

• In the Library Links field search for Michigan State University.

• Select Michigan State University – MSU Access.

• Do your search in Google Scholar.

• Click on the link for “MSU Access” that will appear to the right of the title of the resource. You will then be prompted for your MSU NetID and password to access that resource. Please Note – if you click on the title and not the “MSU Access” link you won’t be taken to the resource.

New Logon Screen for ANGEL, MSU Course Management System

05/02/2008

On Thursday, May 8, 2008, a new logon interface will be implemented on angel.msu.edu. Currently users log on to MSU’s course management system, ANGEL, by entering their MSU NetID and password directly on the ANGEL home page. After the change, users will log on by clicking on a button labeled “Proceed,” which will take them to the logon screen.

This change is part of a project that will allow users to access multiple MSU resources without having to log on to each service individually. For more information visit help.angel.msu.edu.
