IT Exchange Meeting – April 8, 2009

The IT Exchange meeting was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. in MSU’s Erickson Kiva.
- Michael VanPutten, from MSU University Relations, introduced an enterprise level Web content management system and present revisions of the main university website.
- Bruce Alexander, Director of Enterprise Business Systems Project, explained what is happening with MSU administrative systems, why it’s happening, what and when it will be different, and what it means to you.
– Steve Devine, with the ATS E-mail and Storage Systems team, provided a quick update on the change in filter options of mail.msu.edu.

The next scheduled gathering for members and interested members of MSU’s information technology environment is June 10, 2009, when the IT Conference occurs at Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
Core MSU Computing Services Unavailable March 27, 2009

On Friday, March 27, 2009, between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. many core computing services will be unavailable while Academic Technology
Services (ATS) upgrades the cooling system within the Computer Center datacenter. Wired access to the MSU network is expected to run without
interruption. Wireless access will only be available at the Kellogg Center, Computer Center, and National Superconducting Cyclotron
Laboratory (NSCL). For a complete list of services expected to be available during this maintenance, please read knowledge base article

Updates associated with this maintenance will be posted at servicestatus.msu.edu. If unforeseen problems occur and servicestatus.msu.edu is not available, an updated status
message can be heard by calling (517) 432-6200.
ATS has made every effort to schedule this maintenance during times which should be the least disruptive to students, faculty, and staff.
Physical Plant and ATS work closely together to plan necessary maintenance while insuring the availability of core computing services
to the campus community during mission-critical times.
