Breeze Presenter Improved

April 14, 2006

Macromedia Breeze Presenter was introduced on campus in October 2005. The Presenter plug-in allows MSU faculty and staff members to convert PowerPoint files into a web accessible presentation using Flash. These presentations can be uploaded to ANGEL or any course management system.

On February 20, 2006, a new version of Breeze was rolled out, patching bugs in the previous version and providing more versatility. Users who installed the Breeze plug-in previous to this date should re-install the new version to ensure they have the most current features.

Upon installation, Breeze integrates with PowerPoint, making the Breeze menu available.  Audio, flash files and quizzes can then be inserted into PowerPoint slides, making them interactive pieces of multimedia. Using Breeze’s audio and video features, faculty can turn PowerPoint files into self-sustaining lectures. Students can pause and rewind a presentation, which allows them to learn at their own pace and navigation thumbnails allow students to revisit slides. Supplementary files, such as an Excel spreadsheet or Word document, can be attached to the presentation, which allows for easy access and downloading for students.

The upgraded Breeze plug-in offers improvements to embedded images and quiz customization. The option of formatting notes was also added. In addition to these cosmetic changes, other general fixes to improve performance were included.

For additional information on Breeze visit http://help.msu.edu and search using the term “Breeze” or enroll in a Breeze class with LCTTP —Libraries, Computing & Technology Training Program. Enrollment information can be found at http://train.msu.edu.
